Newfoundlands love to swim and actually have webbed feet! There was once a Newfoundland that weighed 260 pounds. Newfoundlands have often rescued drowning people by swimming to them and pulling them out of the water. A Newfoundland rescued Napoleon when he fell overboard while trying to escape from Elba. The artist Sir Edwin Landseer often painted Newfoundlands and one color variation of the breed is now called Landseer.
