This big, gorgeous boy was rescued from a high kill shelter in the south. He is such a wonderful dog. In his temporary foster home, he gets along with all 15 of the dogs and puppies, loves the little girls, and really he just loves everybody! According to his foster mom he is very affectionate and sooooo gentle. He would make a fantastic therapy dog. No jumping up, not pushy at all, just very loving. He is one special guy. He does manage to jump over the fence so he would require supervision outside. He has cute little white freckles on his nose and is adorable but large! He will likely weigh over 80 lbs once we get some more needed weight on his bones. Max seems to be a young adult at around 3 or 4 years old, and his calm demeanor comes along with that. Max is currently being treated for heart worms (sadly very common in the south) and will be able to come home in early to mid May. If you think he's the boy for you, please copy and paste this link to your web browser, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html. Max is neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped and will be heart worm free. His full vetting and transport up north included in his $500 adoption fee. We cannot be certain what his true mix is. Our gorgeous guy Giovanni is doing GREAT! He's becoming increasingly relaxed and comfortable with Ray and Kelly, and we just LOVE seeing Gio's smile! Gio is used to living in a home. He's house trained and crate trained, and gets along with just about everyone - other dogs, children, and even kitties! He is cautious of men when he first meets them. He bonded with Kelly quickly, and is feeling more safe and secure with Ray with each passing day. After only about two weeks he is comfortable giving Ray kisses and rolling over for a good belly scratch. YAY GIO! Clearly from these pictures he is enjoying himself - both relaxing indoors, and out of doors with one of Ray's personal dogs, Hammie. Gio has considerable arthritis in his hind legs as well as old injuries to his rear ACLs. He saw our vet recently, who evaluated the condition and recommended that it be treated medically with periodic re-evaluations. He is taking anti-inflammatory medication, as well as a glucosamine supplement and is doing well with that medical support. That being said, Gio still needs exercise and our vet feels that with a moderate increase in exercise and resulting better muscle tone, his ease of movement may improve considerably. Gio is a big guy :) He is learning to walk nicely on a leash and getting a brush up course in good doggy manners. He'll need a little more time to relax in his foster home before we finalize an adoption. However, we are currently accepting adoption applications for Gio. (Less)
